The Beginning
I found my first lump when I was 19 years old. I remember the absolute terror whilst sitting there waiting for the doctor, thinking of how my life could change in the next few minutes. Fortunately, it was nothing to be concerned about.
Fast forward to around 15 years later, when to my horror, I found another tiny lump in my left breast. I rushed to the doctor after a sleepless night, he said that a mammogram wouldn’t pick it up, as it was too small and recommended surgery straight away. I told him to do whatever he thought was necessary… 2 days later, I awoke to a tightly strapped chest with no idea of what remained under those bandages. Worried and frustrated, I lay there alone, and no one could tell me what the results were. I had to wait long and painful hours for the doctor to finally do his rounds that evening. Eventually, I was told that all my milk glands and 2 lumps were removed from the left breast, and thankfully they were all benign. The benign bit was great news, but today I sit with half a left breast as a result of unnecessary intervention.
This experience prompted me to start doing some research on how to cope with finding a lump and ways of trying to resolve it without medical intervention. This took me down a road of learning that ultimately changed the direction of my life and introduced me to thermography. After finding a third lump in 2011, it ultimately resulted in me starting my own thermography practice at the age of 54, and 9 years later I’m still going strong, with the practice continuing to grow.
Follow me on my journey of learning and discovery. I will share what I did to manage my breast health regarding monitoring and making lifestyle changes. We can get our immune system and our body to function optimally by taking control and better managing what we eat, how we cook, what products we use, our stress factors, exercise and sleep patterns. This does not come from swallowing one magic pill, nor does it require a major upheaval. All it takes is an understanding of what is good or bad, which comes from having the information and knowledge to make the right choices when faced with options, and I would like to share my knowledge on all of this with you as we go along.
